Hogue Cabernet Sauvignon, 2007

Hogue Cabernet Sauvignon, 2007

Hogue Cellars has been making a full range of Washington State wines for more than 25 years. This winery produces over 650,000 cases of wine per year with most of them being considered "value" wines, coming in below $16. This Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon sells for about $8 in the Seattle area and is widely available. This wine represents a great value in a Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon. The color is a dark saturated red with nice clarity. This young Cabernet exhibits an alluring nose of ripe plums, blackberry jam and chocolate covered cherries. This is a medium bodied wine with wonderful rich flavors of dark berries, cassis, espresso and spice. The mouth feel is smooth and balanced with nice acidity, well integrated tannins and just a hint of toasty oak. This wine definitely “over-performs” considering the $8 price tag. Not a “big” wine, but quite delicious. Seek out this 2007 Hogue Cabernet Sauvignon as an "anytime" wine.
